In 2022, over 243,000 people underwent bariatric surgery. This number is slightly lower than 263,000 in 2021, an all-time high. One contributing factor to this decline could be the explosion in the use of weight loss medications and the post-pandemic economy. Of course, the number of procedures was lower in 2020 due to COVID.

Roughly one million Americans cross the border every year for healthcare, including gastrointestinal (GI) operations. Many patients without insurance can expect to save 40% to 70% on these treatments by going to Mexico with MBC. Andi Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Before and After

More and more patients are choosing Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) because of its substantial weight loss, low complication rate, and ease of conversion to other procedures. An estimated 61.4% of all weight loss surgeries performed are gastric sleeves.

BMI less than 30 (Maximum 33 if you have a lot of loose skin)

A BMI (Body Mass Index) under 30 is generally recommended for cosmetic surgery because higher BMIs are associated with increased risks of complications during and after surgery. Here’s why:

Increased Risk of Complications: Patients with a BMI over 30 face a higher likelihood of complications such as infections, poor wound healing, and blood clots (deep vein thrombosis). Excess body fat can impair blood flow and healing, making recovery more challenging.

Anesthesia Risk: Administering anesthesia to patients with a higher BMI carries more risk. Obesity can make it harder to manage the airway, increasing the chances of complications like respiratory issues or adverse reactions during surgery.

Surgical Outcome Concerns: Patients with a higher BMI may not experience optimal results from procedures aimed at body contouring or enhancement. Excess fat can distort the aesthetic outcome, and the natural results may be less noticeable.

Longer Recovery Time: Overweight patients tend to have slower recovery times and are more prone to post-surgical complications, such as seromas (fluid accumulation) and fat necrosis (death of fat tissue).

Blood Clot and Cardiovascular Issues: Obese patients have an increased risk of blood clots, which can lead to life-threatening conditions such as pulmonary embolisms. They also face a higher risk of cardiovascular problems, which could complicate the surgery itself.

Our top five surgical and non-surgical procedures provide transformative results with the utmost safety and care. We specialize in personalized treatments, including:

  • Mommy Makeover: This package may include Liposuction, Tummy Tuck (Mini, Full, or Extended), and Breast Lift or Augmentation. Other procedures like Arm Lift, Thigh Lift, or Butt Enhancement may be added depending on patient safety.

For post-bariatric patients with significant weight loss and excess skin, a Lower Body Lift or Circumferential Tummy Tuck is ideal. This procedure involves an incision around the torso, liposuction to reshape the body, tightening of abdominal muscles, and the creation of a new belly button. The procedure also lifts the outer thighs and buttocks while removing excess skin.

We offer a comprehensive list of surgical options to meet every patient’s needs. Please contact us for more information about available procedures.

It’s crucial to stop taking certain medications and supplements at least two weeks before surgery to prevent complications such as excessive bleeding or drug interactions. Below is a list of substances you should avoid:

  • The “G” Group: Garlic, Ginger, Ginkgo Biloba, and Ginseng — these can affect blood clotting.
  • Fish Oils & Supplements: Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA), Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), Fish Oils, and Vitamin E should be avoided as they can impair clotting post-surgery.
  • Herbal Interactions: Feverfew, Ginkgo Biloba, Coenzyme Q10, Ginger, and Ginseng may dangerously interact with blood thinners like Warfarin, increasing the risk of bleeding.
  • Heart Drug Interactions: Hawthorn Berry, Kyu Shin, Licorice, Plantain, Uzara Root, and Ginseng may interact with Digoxin, a heart medication, potentially leading to fatal complications.
  • St. John’s Wort: This can interfere with multiple drugs, including Digoxin, Warfarin, oral contraceptives, Cyclosporine, and antiviral medications.
  • Iron: Cease taking iron supplements one week before surgery.

Have a look at the various techniques and see what procedure will be best for you. When it comes to breast implants, in particular, it is important to determine the size that you want.

Other Medical Procedures

At Hospital Azar, we are committed to providing exceptional care and surgical expertise for our patients. While our primary focus is currently on hysterectomies, we are actively exploring opportunities to expand our range of medical procedures in the future. Our dedication to patient care means that every service we offer is backed by experienced professionals, advanced technology, and a focus on your safety and well-being.

Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the uterus and, in some cases, surrounding structures like the ovaries or fallopian tubes. It is often recommended to address medical conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, uterine prolapse, or certain cancers. At Hospital Azar, we use modern techniques to ensure a safe and effective procedure, prioritizing your comfort and recovery.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a common yet often undiagnosed condition in women, as its symptoms can be challenging to identify. It occurs when endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus, leading to issues such as infertility, pain during intercourse, and abnormal uterine bleeding. At Hospital Azar, we use MRI mapping to accurately diagnose endometriosis in female patients, ensuring precise identification and effective treatment planning.

Diagnostic Procedures

At Hospital Azar, we offer in-house diagnostics with X-ray imaging and lab work to provide fast, accurate results. Our experienced team and advanced equipment help us deliver clear insights into your health, allowing us to guide your treatment and recovery efficiently.
