Gastric Sleeve Surgery in Mexico
If you’ve struggled to lose weight through diet and exercise alone, Gastric Sleeve surgery in Mexico offers a safe, effective, and long-lasting solution to help you achieve sustainable weight loss. Experience more freedom and a healthier life!
Gastric Sleeve Surgery, also known as Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG), is a minimally invasive procedure that reduces the stomach’s size through small incisions. By removing a portion of the stomach, the surgery helps limit food intake and encourages portion control. In addition to reducing hunger, it leads to hormonal changes that improve satiety and can even help resolve obesity-related conditions like diabetes.
At Hospital Azar, we specialize in Reinforced Gastric Sleeve Surgery™, offering up to 75% savings on comprehensive, all-inclusive packages with clear, upfront pricing. With over a decade of experience in performing this life-changing procedure, the bariatric specialists at Mexico Bariatric Center are the most trusted leaders in bariatric surgery in Tijuana.
What is Gastric Sleeve?
Gastric Sleeve Surgery (VSG), is a highly effective solution for addressing obesity. The surgical sleeve procedure involves reducing the stomach’s size by 80%, transforming it into a slender tube similar to the shape of a banana. By removing a portion of the stomach that produces the hunger hormone ghrelin, patients experience less frequent hunger and a greater sense of control over their eating habits. This results in significant and sustainable weight loss.
Key benefits of Gastric Sleeve Surgery Tijuana include:
- Reduced stomach capacity: You’ll feel full with smaller portions.
- Appetite suppression: Lower levels of ghrelin mean reduced hunger, while increased Peptide-YY (PYY) helps curb appetite.
- Enhanced satiety: Your body becomes more sensitive to Leptin, the hormone responsible for making you feel full.
- Faster gastric emptying: Foods pass through the stomach more quickly, aiding weight loss, similar to gastric bypass surgery.
- Improved GLP-1 levels: Higher concentrations of Glucagon-Like Peptide 1 (GLP-1) support weight loss and help regulate blood sugar.
Surgical Sleeve Procedure: How it Works
The gastric sleeve or surgical sleeve procedure is performed laparoscopically using 3 to 5 small incisions rather than one large cut, making it a minimally invasive surgery. The entire surgical sleeve operation typically takes less than one hour to complete. Patients usually stay in the hospital for one night, but we ensure a smoother recovery by providing more than 30 hours of hospital care at no extra cost.
To prioritize safety, our team conducts three separate leak tests before discharge. One of these is a hydro-soluble (water-soluble) contrast exam, which helps ensure there are no complications and promotes a safer recovery after surgical sleeve.

Sleeve Revision Surgery
While the Gastric Sleeve in Tijuana is a life-changing success for most patients, weight loss is a lifelong journey. If your goals change years down the road, you can get a sleeve revision. We believe in providing our patients with a safety net, ensuring that no matter how your body evolves over time, we have advanced surgical tools to keep you on track.
Revision surgery isn’t a sign of failure; it’s a medical tool used to fine-tune your results. Patients may explore revision options for two main reasons:
- Inadequate Weight Loss: This is often the result of a larger-than-optimal initial pouch, gradual stretching of the sleeve over time, hormonal imbalances, or challenges with dietary adherence.
- Medical Complications: Revision may be necessary to resolve chronic issues such as severe acid reflux (GERD), gastric leaks, or strictures.
Sleeve Revision Options
Whether you need a sleeve revision due to weight regain or medical complications, our team offers specialized corrective procedures. One of the greatest benefits of the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy is its versatility. Because the anatomy remains relatively straightforward, it can be easily modified. Depending on your needs, a surgeon can perform a re-sleeve to reduce the pouch size or convert the procedure into a Gastric Bypass, Mini-Gastric Bypass, or Duodenal Switch.
