Mini Gastric Bypass in Mexico

Mini Gastric Bypass (MGB) is a simpler, shorter variation of the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass with the same results. This laparoscopic procedure creates a long, narrow pouch and reroutes the intestine to reduce food intake and calorie absorption. It’s highly effective for weight loss and treating comorbidities like Type 2 diabetes and GERD. MGB has become increasingly popular due to its simplicity, shorter operating time, and impressive weight loss results.

At Hospital Azar, we perform this life-changing procedure with world-class care and safety standards. Contact the advanced bariatric surgeons in Tijuana at the Mexico Bariatric Center to see if MGB is a good option for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mini Gastric Bypass offers several key benefits:

– Effective Weight Loss: Comparable to traditional RNY gastric bypass, with quicker recovery and shorter operation time.

– Appetite Suppression: Hormonal changes reduce hunger by lowering Ghrelin and increasing GLP-1.

– Improved Metabolism: Enhances insulin sensitivity, often improving or even reversing type 2 diabetes.

– Simpler Procedure: Only one surgical connection (anastomosis) is required, reducing complication risk.

– Lower Risk of Complications: Shorter surgery time and fewer reconnections make it safer for many patients.

– High Success Rate: Long-term weight loss is sustained with proper follow-up and lifestyle changes.

You may be a candidate if:

– Your BMI is 30 or higher with obesity-related health conditions (like diabetes, hypertension, or sleep apnea).

– Your BMI is 35 or more without other conditions.

– You’ve tried and failed with diet, exercise, and medications.

– You’re seeking an alternative to sleeve or RNY bypass.

– You’re ready to commit to lifestyle changes and nutritional guidelines.

Our surgical team will review your health questionnaire to determine if MGB is right for you.
